This tea caddy comes from Gejiu city, Yunnan province where it has a tradition of handcrafting exquisite tinware products. This small lacquered tea tin has a solid thick body, feels a bit heavy in the hand, is great for travel or individual sharing tea sessions, and holds enough tea for one to three sessions. Tins don’t absorb flavor, and they keep the loose leaves intact. The natural lacquer is extracted from tree sap, then hand painted over the tin. The special lacquer paints produce radiant patterns and colors that are said to last for hundreds of years. These lacquered tea tins have a subtle elegance and an understated touch of luxury.
