Artisan Jianshui Purple Clay Inscribed Color Carving Chrysanthemum Teapot
Jian Shui Purple Clay Pottery is one of the four famous classes of Chinese pottery. Jian Shui clay is extracted from the local "five color" mountain, as the soil has abundant deposits of red, yellow, purple, white, and brownish clay content, referred to by the locals as "Wu Se Tu", meaning five color soil. Iron is the richest element in this clay, so a lot of Jian Shui teapots have a black color or are mixed tones, featuring reddish or copper tints.
This beautiful teapot represents the modern style of Jian Shui purple clay teapot. The theme of the art is "praise the autumn with chrysanthemum". The Chinese characters on the teapot read "Jing Qiu", which translates to "golden autumn". The younger generation artists apply the traditional technique of clay-filling their carvings to display art on the teapot, but with more vivid imagery and eye-popping colors. The chrysanthemum is a favorite subject in traditional arts.
Your purchase includes a beautiful case to protect the teapot when traveling or when not in use.
