Silver Needles is one of the most famous teas from China, the king of white tea. It is named after the shape of the tea buds and the tiny white hairs that fully cover the buds.

This tea is the first harvest from Taimu mountain, the traditional core harvest area of Fuding. It is hand picked, sun-dried, and masterfully processed. When it is brewed, the buds turn to light yellowish green and the liquor takes on an amber tint, like honey. You will see a lot of hair or particles in the liquor during the first two steepings. The "hairy" liquor is what the connoisseurs call "hao xiang", meaning "the fragrance of the fuzz". It is delightfully fresh and very floral, mellow and sweet, having a sun-dried flavor with notes of fresh pear, papaya, vanilla and dates, producing a deeply satisfying cup. It not only brews a delicious cup, but also provides great health benefits, as Silver needles tea consists only of buds, which are packed with nutrients rich in amino acids and polyphenol.

Silver Needle has a very distinctive appearance. Most lower grade silver needles on the market are not Fuding white tea, but rather are from other parts of Fujian province, or from a later harvest. An experienced tea person can distinguish the quality of the tea from its dry leaves. At Meimei Fine Teas, we only offer high quality teas from their true origin as terroir plays a crucial role in tea quality and your overall sensory experience.
