Anji Bai Cha, literally "white tea" in Chinese, is actually a green tea. It's one of the most sought-after teas in China. It has the freshest appearance of all green tea, and retains the original shape of the leaves! Once considered a "lost tea," Anji Bai Cha, literally "white tea" in Chinese, was recorded as late as 900 years ago, within the pages of the Da Guan Cha Lun, written by Emperor Hui Zhong of the Song Dynasty. It enjoyed a resurrection in the 80's, and is now widely-grown throughout Anji County in Zhejiang Province, China. Despite its name, it's actually a green tea.
Anji Bai Cha leaves maintain a vibrant pale green, "freshly-plucked" appearance despite being dried. Unlike other green teas that have long harvest periods, this tea has a small window of only 30 days in the early spring. Due to its limited production, Anji Bai Cha is one of the most sought-after green teas in China.
