This beloved traditional deep red glaze called Ji Hong (祭红), is one type of Jingdezhen's traditional single-color glazing styles. Not all red glaze porcelain wares are created equal. There are many mass-produced or lower-cost thinly layered red glaze teawares on the market made of chemical glazing materials.  One needs to be especially discerning when choosing these types of teawares. This gaiwan set used the local authentic glazing material which results in a thick and deep glaze, with a more saturated color and a naturally radiant finish.
