"Leaves in the bag: Sweet light lemony/citrus and kiwi notes along side floral base. Bouquet: Agree with other reviewers on gardenia as most prominent scent in the florals on the nose; caramel comes out in the second steep, along with a subtle bass note of charcoal. Very satisfying roundness in front- mid- and back palate; hints of toasted vanilla. Lingering finish with the memory of caramelized sugar. One of our current favorites!"
"The smell coming from the pouch is sweet florals and darker smells like cacao nibs and roasted nuts.After a 10 second rinse the smell opens with notes of light roast, moves onto rich cacao, and finishes with an explosion of sweet, heady gardenias.The first steep was for 10 seconds.I had to remind myself to actually taste the tea itself because the mouthfeel was so distracting!From the first steep, this tea is viscous and smooth, it coats the entire mouth and the aftertaste lingers for a very long time in the throat! Once I focused a bit more I could taste mellow notes of charcoal roast at the start, which quickly fade into a midsip dominated by a mixture of cacao nibs and sweet, sugary nutsThe finish is heavy gardenias and a floral after taste that lingers on the breath in between steeps.The second steep was for 15 seconds.Alright, it’s official: this tea stole my heart!The steep opens once again with wisps of smoky roast and fills out in the midsip, which is a mixture of an undercurrent of dark chocolate with what I swear is a caramel note on top!The dark chocolate notes balance out the sweeter, caramel-esque notes.I noticed an odd coppery tang toward the end of the sip.Perhaps the water was a little hot?Other than the coppery note, the finish is gentle, distant gardenias.The third steep was again for 15 seconds with slightly cooler water.The opening notes are less charcoal roast and more smelling a campfire on the breeze, with dark chocolate notes building around the edges.This dark chocolate note ramps up in the midsip where it is joined oddly by a nasally punch of gardenias, which until now have contained themselves to the end of the sip.It isn’t a bad mix of tastes at all, it’s actually surprisingly tasty! This is probably one of the sweetest dark oolong I’ve had!The finish is plain, simple gardenias that fade into a lingering aftertaste.I got six solid steeps out of this tea, it was a solid, sweet tea that I can see myself saving for special occasions."
