Description

Dong Fang Hong Dan Cong is widely regarded as one of the finest representatives of Phoenix  Dan Cong oolong and enjoys a distinguished reputation among tea enthusiasts. Historically, this tea was presented to Chairman Mao in the 1950s, earning it the nickname “Chairman Mao Tea.” Over time, it has become highly sought after in the premium segment of the Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong.

Dongfang Hong is crafted from ancient tea trees growing on Fenghuang Mountain in Chaozhou at an elevation of approximately 1,200 meters. The original mother tree, once known as “Song Tea,” is said to have been around 700 years old.

This tea offers a pronounced yellow gardenia fragrance that is deeply infused into the liquor, accompanied by the distinctive high-mountain character known as shan yun (山韵), or “mountain resonance.” As a high-grade Dan Cong, it embodies the classic harmony of fragrance, depth, and lingering finish. The strong aroma is seamlessly integrated into the tea liquor itself, creating a balanced interplay between scent and flavor. Subtle tropical fruity notes emerge through the session, and the tea remains expressive and resilient through many infusions. It is a delicacy you would not want to miss.

This tea has an unusual

"This tea has an unusual and very pleasant fragrance in an oolong. I have only tried maybe 1 other phoenix oolong from another company and didn't think I would try another one till the description caught my eye. The magnolia oolong is very pleasant and enjoyable and true to description. We did however adjust the recommended steeping time to our liking by steeping it longer as the recommended time was much to light and watery. I'm excited to say I am now a fan of Phoenix oolongs! We were also able to taste from a sample the honey oolong and that is also delicious and unique capturing that honey like smell and taste. I'm looking forward to trying others in the near future and in the meantime enjoying my magnolia oolong!"
