Yunnan Golden Buds Gongfu Black Tea Top Grade Dian Hong Jing Ya
Yunnan Golden Tips black tea, or Dian Hong Jin Ya in Chinese, is the highest grade of Yunnan gongfu black tea. It is only composed of buds. Other Dian Hong black teas are composed of one bud, one or two leaves depending on the grade. Jin Ya means golden buds/tips, Dian Hong means Yunnan red. Dian Hong was first invented by the pioneer tea master Pei Shao Qiu (see statue photo below) in 1932 when he led a group of tea scholars to Yunnan to grow Chinese black tea. The tea varietal called Da Ye, meaning large leaves, is an ancient cultivar indigenous to Yunnan from which the famous Pu-erh tea is produced.
This tea is hand-picked and hand processed, has furry, downy golden buds. It is smooth and sweet, full bodied, with a fruity aroma and a malty flavor.
