Dian Hong means Yunnan Red in Chinese. Gong Fu means effort or skilled, which in this case, refers to the time and effort required to make this black tea. Dian Hong was first produced in 1938 in Fengqing, Yunnan and quickly gained worldwide fame. The tea varietal called Da Ye, meaning large leaves, is an ancient cultivar indigenous to Yunnan from which the famous Puer tea is produced. This tea was harvested pre-ming, with 1 bud and 2 tender leaves. This tea is full bodied, has rich malty base, a distinct floral aroma and hints of roasted peach. A very versatile tea that can be thoroughly enjoyed either hot or iced.
