Wild Grown Lichuan Black Tea

A specialty black tea from the mountainous Lichuan county, Enshi prefecture, in Hebei province, China. Lichuan features lush forest that occupying 85% of the land, with selenium-rich soil. Historically, Lichuan started to make black tea for exporting to Britain during the Nineteenth century or late Qing dynasty. In 2018 it made national news when China's president Xi and Indian president Modi drank Lichuan gongfu black tea during their summit in Wuhan, the capital of Hebei province. Nowadays it is one of China's top gongfu black teas, and has gained more popularity among tea drinkers.

It is our philosophy to source ecologically grown teas. As you can see in the pictures, this area has beautiful and natural scenery, untouched misty mountains and rivers, ideal for growing tea. This tea has black tightly twisted dry leaves. it is smooth and mellow, has floral note of rose, roasted pear and black cherry with a sweet finish. Like our Enshi green tea that has abundant selenium content, this black tea is also selenium-rich, which is one of the important benefits of all Enshi produced teas. It is a very versatile tea, perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea, especially with hearty meals or sweets.
