This wild grown black Pu-erh tea was first introduced from Victoria's 2016 tea sourcing trip in Feng Qing, the core-producing region of Yunnan black tea (Dian Hong). Feng Qing has a long history of producing the finest Yunnan black tea. Wild grown tea trees are different from the traditional Yunnan Da Ye camellia varietal, including both the dry leaves and the taste profile.

This Pu-erh black tea is produced from ancient tree leaves, plucked from ancient trees growing in the wild, and in high mountains with an elevation of more than 2000 meters. As you can see from the picture, the mountain roads to the harvest field is rough and dangerous. The ancient trees are the most natural, organically grown trees beyond organic. It typically yields a very distinct flavor and delicate taste. The dry leaves are dark, with no golden downy buds, and a strong floral sweet aroma. Although processed as black tea, but the tea is not completely oxidized, like Pu-erh tea it also ages well. When brewed, it produces a gold-yellowish liquor. It is aromatic, very fruity and sweet, has "Hui gan", a smooth and sweet aftertaste. If gongfu tea brewing is used, this tea is good for a dozen steeps.
