Description

Fuding county, Fujian province is the home and true origin of the current renaissance of China's renowned white tea. This tea comes from the heart of Fuding's core producing region of Dian Tou town. Victoria visited the company’s exporting base tea garden, an organically managed tea garden certified by European standards, see pic below. The founder, Mr. Zhang, is also a designate of Fuding White Tea heritage by the Chinese government authority.

Shou Mei is the third category of white tea. With its own tasting character, it is beloved by many tea drinkers for its great taste and more accessible price tag. As it ages, the taste becomes smoother and sweeter.

Not all teas are created equal, and this is especially true for this Shou Mei. This tea is hand-picked with one bud, three to four leaves in late spring, 2018 and traditionally processed and pressed into cakes in the fall 2018. It is floral, very clean and smooth, sweet, palpable of dates flavor, producing a quick and strong huigan that is an indication of a high quality Shou Mei white tea. What is more, it is easy to brew and forgiving. It is certainly stands out among its peers on the market. A great every day tea for all seasons.

Cake weighs 300g / 10.58oz

Very enjoyable tea and great value

"It’s rare to find a Shou Mei white tea harvested in spring. I have had different kinds of aged white tea, and this one really stands out for its taste and soothing. The toasted vanilla and subtle fruity notes are very soothing. I was very happily surprised by the quality and taste with this price, so I bought another two. Highly recommend!"

    Wonderful, aged white tea

"Really delicious and unique. Has a fermented quality that comes with aging. Sweet, smoky, and reminiscent of green puerh but without bitterness. Stands up to several steepings like puerh"

First Experience w/ Aged White Tea

"Given that it was my first experience with aged white tea, I was unsure about how much I would like it. Well, long story short.. I love it! I have seen people boil and then simmer the leaves of aged white teas and pu-erh's when they are finished with their many steeping's in order to get the most out of the finished leaves. When I did this with this tea, a beautiful artichoke scent and taste surfaced from the tea. What a wonderful experience. Thank you Meimei fine teas for making my first experience with an aged white tea one to remember."

    Just tried and really like

"Just tried and really like the aroma and sweet taste! it is the vintage white tea for summer!"

    Lisa (5/5)

    Wonderful Tea!

"I bought this white tea because of its aging properties. I didn’t know how this tea would taste, but the website said it has the taste of dried fruits. I am very pleased with my purchase. There is no pungent taste, rather it is smooth and sweet, and especially soothing to my throat. I guess the smoothness has to do with aging, since it is a 5-year old tea? I brew 2 minutes each time, and can be steeped about 5 or 6 times. A bonus that it saves storage space as compared to my other loose white tea!"

    Tao (5/5)

    Great value

"This tea is a great value, at 5 years old, it is still young for an aged White tea, but is very pleasant. Tastes of plums, dried fruits, and light woodiness similar to a Bai Mu Dan. Good for about 5-6 infusions with little change in taste between each."
