Tong Qing He Pu-erh tea is named after the Tong Qing River, as it is from the unknown forest off the beaten path far away from the Yao minority village to which it belongs. It lays in the Yiwu area, close to Bai Hua Qing village, in Xishuangbanna prefecture. The tea trees grow in the preserved national forest by the government. It was unknown to the Pu-erh tea world until 2012 when a few discovered the secret forest. To get to this tea terrace, the villagers must go upstream by foot, cross the river at some point, and climb up the hills and mountains. It is a breathtaking but very difficult journey, about 6 hours by foot round trip. Any outsiders who has made the journey would say it is like a jungle adventure, and they would not want to travel back again.

This is the perfect example of the greatest tea coming from the best pristine ecosystem, producing the most ecologically grown tea that Mother Nature has to offer: the high mountains and misty forest, a naturally fertile wonderland. Because it is very difficult to get to, even villagers are reluctant to make the tough trip. It has become the new upstart prestigious Pu-erh tea in recent years, with many hotly chasing after it, for its superior quality and taste.

It is our privilege to offer this tea after several years of trying, but the quality of this tea is outstanding and worthy all the wait. And the quality much more exceeds its price tag when majority of the tea on the market is blended or claim its authenticity but it is not. Our tea is not from blends or mixes, and true to its what the wrapper name is.

The real Tong Qing He has some great attributes that it is known for, with the most noteworthy is its Yun, of being the wild forest aroma. Yun (韵) is the unique sensory experience and/or taste that is associated with a particular high-quality tea. Also, the tea is very juicy and smooth, thick-textured, full-bodied, with complex flavors that make you ponder. The quality is also evident by its sensation in your throat, or Hou Yun in Chinese. The Cha Qi runs through your body and make your feel content and relaxed. It is a daily luxury and a delicacy that Pu-erh tea lovers want to own.  It is a pleasant sensory experience to be enjoyed now, it also has great potential for developing an even stronger character and Cha Qi through aging, eliciting it's optimal quality and taste.

The artistic Chinese calligraphy of the tea name on the wrapper was handwritten by Mr. He, who is a professional calligrapher and painter, and also the president of the Menghai Calligraphy Society.
