Jun Kiln Variable Glaze Teacup Pair Handmade

The Junci kiln, in Yuzhou, Henan province, is one of the five famous kilns hailing from the Song dynasty, about 960-1279 years ago. Jun ware is known for its striking varying glazes. In fact, for hand-crafted Jun porcelain, no piece has the exact same glaze as any other.

This pair was hand-crafted by a reputable local Jun ware studio in the historical Jun ware city of Shen Hou, Yuzhou. The cup feels heavy in the hand due to its thick use of clay, an indication of high quality Jun ware. The shape is classic Luo Han, meaning monks in Chinese. The colorful glazes vary at every angle around the cup, giving plenty of room for one's appreciation. The white dots at the bottom and outside are the result of mineral deposits in the clay bubbling up to the surface due to the very high firing temperature, also an indication of real clay material in contrast to the low quality clay material formulations more commonly found on the market.

The ever-changing glazes of this set offer a nice harmonious contrast when placed side by side. A unique pair that will surely enrich your authentic tea experience.

The slight color variations in the photos due to different lighting, with the goldish color most closely representing the true color.

Each individual cup: 90ml / 3.04oz. Sold as a pair.
