Jingdezhen Antique Porcelain Teacup Artisan Enamel Flying Goose

This teacup is the work of a top studio in Jingdezhen. It features a vivid image of a flying goose, a favorite traditional subject that permeates ancient Chinese literature and art. In Chinese culture, a goose symbolizes romantic love and loyalty as well as nostalgia, homesickness and an upbeat spirit. This cup used Guci clay, meaning it mimics ancient porcelain, with a gorgeously detailed decorative enamel to depict the image of a flying goose.  With no other painting or subjects on the teacup, the goose is the main focus and leaves much for one's imagination and interpretation. As these are handmade enamel images, there are slight variations in shape and color in each cup. Ancient porcelain gives the cup an antique look and feel. It is a timeless artistic tea ware that will be enjoyed for many years to come.
