The Jun kiln (钧窑), located in Yuzhou, Henan Province, is one of the Five Great Kilns of the Song Dynasty (960–1279) and is revered for its poetic, ever-changing glazes. In Jun porcelain, the kiln fire itself becomes a collaborator—no two pieces ever emerge the same, making each work truly singular.

This exceptional tea bowl is crafted by Master Zhao Zhanchao (赵占超), a nationally recognized Jun Porcelain Master accredited by the China National Art Porcelain authority. Fired using the demanding charcoal-firing technique, this piece reveals a rare and captivating Yaobian effect—an organic interplay of color and movement reminiscent of impressionist painting. The glaze evokes the quiet depth and fluid beauty of Monet’s Water Lilies, inviting contemplation and imagination with every turn of the bowl.

The lustrous, jewel-like glaze along the rim speaks to the purity of the clay and the precision of high-temperature firing, while natural crackles formed during cooling add depth and character—an aesthetic cherished in classical Chinese ceramics.
