Description

Qi Lan, or "Rare Orchid" in English, is the bush varietal of the Wuyi rock oolong. It has a long twisted dark brown dry leaf, and a very fragrant and fruity taste. The liquor is clear, has creamy texture and a naturally sweet finish. The rich aroma of roasted almond is also reflected in a satisfying aftertaste that lingers in your mouth and nose. It also has hints of raisins, vanilla and orchid. Simply a wonderful tea.

One packet: 8.3g for a standard gongfu brewing session.

"Wonderful! Typically drink the White Teas - from Mei Mei but I will def open up my palette as this was better than most oolongs had prior"

So Good!

"I usually drink early Spring Green Teas, but I decided to try an Oolong as the weather got colder. What a great transition!. Smooth, interesting flavor. I'm very happy with this choice."

My favorite

"Complex and fragrant. This one is my favorite. It a wuyi but not overly strong on the mineral note. The flower notes are really pleasant and the flavors are not watered down even after the 10th infusion, rather morphed. A truly enjoyable one."

Anita M. (5/5)

Moderately priced and very flavorful

"A very nice tea that lends itself well to the Gong-Fu style of brewing. The liquor is full bodied, but less earthy than a Tie Guan Yin. It gives a very smooth, I'd say almost silky, sensation as you drink it with no bitterness, at all. The flavor notes, to me, are of chocolate; similar to a Ruby Oolong from Thailand. The presentation is quite even with flavor starting and finishing on much the same note. I use a steeping time of 30 seconds for the first two steepings and a minute for the next two with good results. Because the tea is not tightly rolled and leaf expansion is minimal, I fill my Gong-fu teapot half full of tea and get a very nice cup. This was my first purchase from Mei Mei and I'll certainly be back."
