Description

Step back 1,200 years into the birthplace of tea. Our Meng Ding Yellow Tea comes from the exact misty cliffs in Sichuan where the Taoist Wu Lizhen first cultivated the "Eight Immortal" tea bushes during the Tang Dynasty. (Scroll to the images to see our founder, Victoria, standing right in front of these preserved, living history bushes!)

Crafted from the rare, heirloom old Sichuan small-leaf varietal (thinner and smaller leaves), this limited-production tea offers a deeper aroma and more robust flavor than other more commonly grown tea bushes in Yaan regional teas. Because authentic yellow tea requires an incredibly labor-intensive, highly skilled "smothering" process, production is strictly limited.

Flavor Profile & Tasting Notes

Meng Ding Yellow Tea is a naturally sweet, incredibly forgiving delicacy that hardly gets bitter, making it perfect for relaxed, casual brewing.

  • Aroma: Instant honey sweetness that fills the room the moment hot water hits the leaves
  • Palate: Rich and buttery with a smooth, nutty backbone and a delicate vegetal finish.
  • Subtle Notes: Sweet pea, fresh hay, artichoke, almond, corn silk, and a whisper of vanilla.
  • Steeping: Exceptionally durable. Enjoy multiple complex infusions without any bitterness.

Additional Info

  • Origin:                           Meng Ding mountain, Sichuan province
  • Harvest:                         March 2026
  • Varietal:                         Local indigenous varietal called Tu Cha
  • Plucking standard:        Buds
