This teacup is the original work of a prestigious studio in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of the world. It has a vibrantly rich color and features a strikingly artistic well-painted peacock. This deep blue glaze is called Ji Lan (祭兰). Ji Lan techniques were developed in the Yuan dynasty. High quality Ji Lan is like a sapphire requires high level of firing technique. The inside of the teacup used underglaze Wucai technique featuring a hand-painted peacock with vivid yellow and blue feathers, and it shines through under the tea liquor. The shape is called Chang Kou, meaning wild open mouth. Simply beautiful and unique, it will surely add some flair to your tea ware collection.
