Genuine Yixing Zisha Teapot Calabash Gourd Zhu Ni Hulu 朱泥葫芦壶
Gourd, Hulu in Chinese, is one of the eighteen famed Man Sheng classic styles. As its name suggests, it shapes like a gourd. Since gourd has the same pronunciation as happiness and wealth in Chinese, so the teapot implies auspiciousness and longevity. As such, this style was very popular in Qing Dynasty, and still to this day. Zhu Ni is also a popular clay among the tea community.
Zisha is known to have the ability to adapt and enhance the tea flavor. Over a period of time the surface of the tea pot can reflect the color of the tea that it brews and become glazed. The process of the surface becoming glazed called "yang hu", literally meaning "raise the teapot" in Chinese. Chinese tea people regard this process as a fun part of tea enjoyment.
A new Zisha teapot should be seasoned before use: soak the Zisha teapot in a steel pot, with the water fully covering the teapot, and boil the water for a half hour to one hour. After boiling has completed, carefully remove the teapot, and rinse.
Handle with care. Hand wash only without soap and detergent.
