2007 Vintage Gongting Shu Pu'erh Mandarin Orange Pu'erh Balls

This Gongting shu puerh tea, stuffed in a mandarin orange shell, has been aged for 13 years, and primed for best taste. Gongting is the highest grade of puerh leaf quality. The dried orange shell is authentic Xinhui mandarin from Gongdong province.  Chinese tradition regards Xinhui mandarin rind as great for soothing the lungs and throat, and for reducing excessive body heat. This tea is very smooth, full bodied, with a strong or mild citrus flavor, depending on how much of the orange shell you add to your tea. 

Each weighs about 35-45g, good for many steeping sessions, and each session can sustain up to 15 steepings. If desired, break off a few small pieces of the mandarin shell to steep along with the tea!

Tasting Profile

It has a pleasant and smooth earthy flavor, with a slight hint of smokiness at the first steeping, notes of dark chocolate and caramel, and a smooth aftertaste. No musty taste. You will notice that it becomes sweeter with each steeping. 

Steeping Guide

Take 4 grams of puerh tea out from the mandarin, break off a few small pieces of mandarin rind to brew along with the tea if desired, 210oF, 6- 8 oz of spring/filtered water, 1-2 min; up to 6 steepings.  We advise against the use of tap water as well as purified water.
