2016 Vintage Super Grade Fuding Silver Needles White Tea Bai Hao Yin Zhen

$ 78.00

This is a rare find top grade aged silver needles white tea. It hails from the heart of the traditional harvest region of Diantou administrative division, Fuding county, and was the first batch of the spring harvest, sun-dried and masterfully processed. Not all tea is created equal, and is so true when it comes to Silver Needles. After 8 years of aging, you can still taste the so called Sun Flavor. When it is brewed, the buds turn to light brown with a gray undertone and the liquor takes on an amber tint, like honey and white wine. You will see a lot of hair or particles in the liquor during the first several steeps. The hairy liquor is what the connoisseurs call Hao Xiang, meaning the fragrance of the fuzz. It is delightfully floral and fruity, smooth and full-bodied, mellow, sweet, with notes of hay, pear, papaya, vanilla and dates, producing a deeply satisfying cup. It is truly a delicacy that white tea lovers should not miss.

Silver Needles is one of the most famous teas from China, the king of white tea. It is named after its very distinctive appearance as the tea buds shape like needles and the tiny white hairs fully cover the buds. There is a Chinese saying regarding the aging benefits of Fuding white tea: Year one a tea, year three a medicine, and year seven a treasure. It not only brews a deeply satisfying cup, but also provides great health benefits, as Silver needles tea is rich in amino acid and polyphenol content.
