2023 King of Pu'erh Lao Ban Zhang Raw Pu-erh Tea

$ 249.00

From the prestigious Lao Bang Zhang (老班章) village, which lies at an altitude of 1800 meters in the Bu Lang Mountains of Meng Hai county, Xishuangbanna prefecture, Yunnan, this tea was personally sourced by Victoria, who oversaw every step in the production of these precious tea cakes, from the selection and harvesting of the Gushu trees to the final packing of the cakes into bamboo skins.  Please see the video below that documents this curation process.

This particular Lao Ban Zhang village has a long history of producing Yunnan Da Ye (large leaves) Pu-erh tea, and is widely regarded as the King of Pu-erh tea.

The taste of this tea is very robust and strikingly great. It is very fragrant, has an aroma of spice and wildflowers, very smooth with a long-lasting aftertaste. There is slightly bitterness, but as soon as you notice it, it immediately disappears in your mouth, leaving you with a persistently sweet aftertaste and a pleasant moist sensation in your throat. After several sips, you will already feel the warm sensation in your body, which is cited by Pu-erh connoisseurs as "Cha Qi" (茶气). The quick transformation of bitterness into sweetness and the delicacy taste are the signature attributes of Lao Ban Zhang Pu-erh tea, which is what separate Lao Ban Zhang tea from the rest of Bulang Mountain pu-erh teas.

Traditionally, Pu-erh cakes are stacked together and wrapped in a bamboo skin case called a tong. One tong is composed of 5 individual cakes. To purchase a tong, simply place 5 cakes, and we will ship you a tong.
