Highlights

Da Hu Sai is a famous puerh tea village in Lingcang puerh tea producing region on the Big Snow Mountain ridge. Standing nearly 3300m high (+10,000 ft) and towering over Mengku valley, the Big Snow Mountain hides a majestic environment — lush, pristine forests furnished with numerous trees and ferns to sustainably nourish the rich biodiversity. Near the summit sits an east-west mountain ridge, serving as a natural boundary for the forest. Though Xiao Hu Sai, also a famous puerh tea village that we carry, is situated on the western side of this ridge, nestled on the eastern side at a higher elevation is Da Hu Sai village, a village not as well-known for its teas but more frequently visited for its easier access to Da Xue Shan forest, helping this village specialize in harvesting wild teas.

The teas from Da Hu Sai tend to possess a slightly tannic component that complements the flavor, likely a feature of the terroir of Da Xue Shan. Similarly, these wild teas are also recognized for the “energy” of the tea that helps one experience a sense of calm and groundedness, ideal for long sessions that require intense focus, such as meditating or studying. Harvested in spring, it separates itself with a little more of a touch of fruitier, spicier, and floral on the palate compared with other puerh teas in the region. After seven years of aging, this tea has transformed into a pleasant affordable treat for our pu’erh tea lovers. It can be sustained as many as 18 steepings. The later steepings are lighter, but still holds flavor well that you just don’t want to quit.

Traditionally, puerh cakes are stacked together and wrapped in a bamboo skin case called a tong. One tong is composed of 7 individual cakes. To purchase a tong, please contact us directly.
