Jingdezhen Artisan Doucai Porcelain Peacock Feather Gaiwan Set
This one-of-a-kind stunning gaiwan is the original creation of a respected studio in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of the world. It is well-designed, completely hand-crafted and hand-painted made of authentic high-quality local clay.
The gaiwan and teacups are hand-painted with a beautiful peacock feather motif. Peacocks are known for bringing blessings and love in Chinese culture. A peacock is an auspicious bird, and the opening of its feathers denotes power and prosperity. In ancient times, officials usually wore hats with peacock feathers attached as a symbol of prosperity and authority. This gaiwan set used an underglaze Doucai porcelain technique to depict a beautiful and dynamically artistic flow, incorporating a range of bright yellow, pink, light green and deep blue as an homage to the peacock's beautiful feathers, which brilliantly bring elements of romance and elegance to this artwork. It is fun to alternate positions of the gaiwan's lid, body, base and the teacups to dynamically create a variety of displays to find your favorite, as show in below pictures.
It is worth noting that the gaiwan has a wide rim on the body, making it very forgiving and easy to hold in your hand. Also, the size and wider body makes it a great all-around brewing vessel for brewing all types of tea. All in all, this gaiwan adds a great artistic presence to your tea ritual and is a solid investment for years to come.
