Authentic Yixing Zisha Teapot Qie Duan 茄段壶 - Abundance and Prosperity
Highlights
This teapot features the classic "Qie Duan" shape 茄段, meaning eggplant stem in Chinese. The Chinese characters on the teapot translate as abundance and prosperity, the everlasting folk tradition displayed in traditional Chinese arts, porcelain works and paintings. The calligrapher is the very ancient Zhuan style. It is handcrafted by Mr. Zhu's studio, who is certified and sanctioned by the Chinese governing authority.
Zisha is known to have the ability to adapt and enhance the flavor of the tea. Over a period of time the surface of the tea pot can reflect the color of the tea that it brews and it's surface become increasingly glazed. The process of the surface becoming glazed called "yang hu", literally meaning "raise the teapot" in Chinese. Zisha teapot lovers regard this process as a fun part of tea enjoyment.
A new Zisha teapot should be seasoned before use: soak the Zisha teapot in a steel pot, with the water fully covering the teapot, and boil the water for a half hour. After boiling has completed, carefully remove the teapot, and rinse.
