This set features a classic mountain landscape that is a popular theme in traditional Chinese art, poetry, and paintings. In the body of the gaiwan, you see a meticulously detailed micro-carved landscape at every angle, distant mountains and water, houses and trees, half moon, and a man walking on the bridge. The base carving features a man driving a boat towards the water's edge. The lid of the gaiwan is carved with a classic style of clouds, representing the sky. The three piece together reveal the ancient Chinese philosophy of serenity and harmony between man and nature.
