1990s Vintage Junci Porcelain Purple Tea Cup Bowl Hat Official Kiln
The Jun kiln, in Yuzhou, Henan province, is one of the five famous kilns hailing from the Song dynasty about 960-1279 years ago. Jun kiln is renowned for its ever changing glaze. In fact, for good Jun porcelain, no piece looks exactly same as any other due to how they are fired.
This cup was produced in the early 1980's by the state-owned official kiln no.1 factory (later dissolved in 2005), and the results mimic that of the ancient Yuan dynasty Junci kiln. Purple is a popular color produced from Jin to Yuan dynasties and is hard to reproduce with a wood-fired kiln. Junci has rich iron component in the soil, so it weighs heavier than other type of porcelain tea cup yet is comfortable to hold. A nice piece that will surely add flare to your tea ware collection.
