1980s Vintage Jun Porcelain Purple Splash Tea Bowl Old Kiln Factory
The Jun kiln, in Yuzhou, Henan province, is one of the five famous kilns hailing from the Song dynasty about 960-1279 years ago. Jun kiln is renowned for its ever changing glaze. In fact, no pieces look exactly same as any other due to the firing process.
This cup was produced in the early 1980's by the state-owned First Jun Kiln Factory (later dissolved in 2005), and the mimic of the ancient Yuan dynasty Jun kiln. The deep purple splash is a style commonly produced from the Jin to Yuan dynasties and is hard to reproduce with a wood-fired kiln (see a similar example in the auction book picture below). Jun porcelain has rich iron component in the soil, so it weighs heavy in your hand yet is comfortable to hold. A vintage piece that is a rare find and that will surely add flare to your tea ware collection.
