2009 Ba Jiao Ting Pristine Bulang Arbor Tree Raw Pu-erh Cake Zi Chun
This tea is produced by the Liming factory, established in 1963, trademark Ba Jiao Ting. Liming factory is the only state-owned Pu-erh tea factory remaining in contemporary Pu-erh tea industry of China.
The tea cake was named "Pristine" for its purity and its representation of pure leaves from the famous Bulang mountain, Menghai county. It was the masterfully blended tea of 2007-2009 spring harvest from the well-known five Ban Zhang villages in Bulang mountain, then pressed into cakes in 2009. It was meant for long-term aging, therefore it has not been circulated in the marketplace and has been well-kept at the producer's Kunming storage facility. Kunming storage is preferred "dry storage" as in the connoisseur's vocabulary that is compared to teas aged in Guang Dong storage. With 14 years of aging in Kunming, this tea has manifestation of the great attributes of a mid-aged Pu-erh tea. It is complex in flavor and taste. very smooth, full-bodied, succulent, notes of dates and fruits, sweet aftertaste until the end.
What makes this tea even more special is its subtle smoky flavor, the most sought-after flavor in aged tea from Bulang mountain. The smokiness permeates the liquor, and does NOT simply float in the air and fade away after a few steepings which is way common in mediocre teas. The smokiness is not over-powering, but just about right amount, and balanced through out until the end. Also this tea has strong Cha Qi (茶气) and the special Yun (韵), which connoisseurs love to detect and capture in the liquor.

It is slightly smoky, very smooth and full bodied, has fruity notes with hints of melon and pear, very juicy and saliva producing.
